Here at Define Home, you’ll see us discuss a vast range of styles in Design. This is because we don’t believe in asking you to bend to fit our personal tastes. Whether working together over a few weeks on a design package or over a few years building your dream home, we work hard to make sure your unique vision is kept in mind at every step of the process.
Casey Scheuerell, Principal Designer & Founder
As a wife and mama to two, Casey currently resides in the Lakeview East neighborhood of Chicago, IL. She is passionate about designing homes that feel joyful not only in how they look and feel, but in how they function as well.
“Our homes often reflect our own state of mind, and I understand first hand how quickly it feels like our homes can spiral out of control - especially with kids in the picture. My goal is not only to design a home that makes your everyday life easier and more beautiful, but to also make the process of getting there as simple and stress free as any renovation can be.“

As we’ve tried to reduce our own impact on the health of our earth, we’ve come to understand the privilege that accompanies sustainability. There is rarely, if ever, a perfectly sustainable product and impact of products go beyond just the environment. Our goal is to be mindful of our approach to each project to meet your personal priorities considering climate, people, and animals.
AUTHENTICITY
Authenticity is meant to empower people to be who they are despite the pressure to be otherwise. As designers, we take a lot of time to understand how you live (and how you want to live) to make sure your home supports you. We encourage all of our clients to look the past design trends, get curious and have fun finding their authentic style in their own homes.
GENEROSITY
While we have big long-term plans for how Define Home can help people in a lot of different housing & home related issues, we’re starting where we can by donating to people already doing the work. We’ll be focusing on initiatives working on neighborhood revitalization, creating generational wealth in the BIPOC community, and providing housing for LGBT+ youth.
